Howdy

I am still around and do want to keep up on this blog. Been crazy few months with layoffs and mounting workload. I seem to be ok for now. Took a much needed vacation and now fighting a bad cold.

Public Safety

Been having 2 rounds of layoffs due to cutting supervision for so many offenders. Been safe so far but not if safe for long. That has been the reason for the low posting rate. Follow me on twitter and I will try and write something soon. I have a lot of good stories to post but just have not been in the mood. I am keeping hope.

Update

A quick update to the post about the search of an offenders car. Looks like I might have to testify about it in court. Wish he could just take responsiblity for his actions. Just don't understand how someone who gets out of prison after doing so many years would do anything to get sent back. Even if you are homeless, there are things out there for you, you just have to look.

The Children

I always feel worst for the kids of offenders. I am getting a new guy who is an drug user and he stole from several places and has been in prison the past year. I went to his in laws house which is where he, his wife, and young son are going to be living at when he gets out soon. The child is already there and I spike with the in laws. They told me they love their grandchild and that is the only reason they are giving the dad a chance. The son cries often because he misses his dad. They told him he us off working but will be back soon. He writes from prison but the son doesn't go visit. They want the son to have a good image of his dad. This story made me so sad. While I don't have a child, how could any father put drugs and crime before a son that loves you so much that he cries because he misses you?

He should get out soon. I am going to tell him that this is his last chance and he better not fuck it up if he has even one ounce of love for his son.

It makes me so mad that anyone could hurt their own child. I really hope this guy makes it. I will be watching him.

Love the excuses

An offender comes into the office today to give a drug test. I test for alcohol as he gets violent if he drinks. Before the test he asks me if eating beer battered fish would show a positive for alcohol. I tell him no and ask if he drank alcohol. He says, "no, what would give you that idea?" I love offenders, such dumbasses.
